Dental Implants

Missing teeth is a common dental concern that can occur due to various reasons. It could be due to an accident, tooth decay, external or internal injury. Replacing damaged teeth has become less of a hurdle these days as modern dentistry has advanced a great deal to give patients exactly what they want to recover from missing teeth with the help of implant dentistry.

Implant dentistry can help restore both function and aesthetics of teeth by replacing missing teeth structures with dental implants, giving them a fuller and happier looking smile.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental Implants are designed to replace missing teeth structures by mimicking teeth roots. Generally, dental implants come in the form of Titanium screws. To replace your missing teeth, dental implants are embedded into the jawbone and allowed to heal. They will then be covered with restorations in the form of a dental crown. Implants have changed the lives of many, giving them the smile of their dreams and an effective way to restore the functionality of their mouth.

What is involved in getting dental implants?

The dentist will first analyze your oral cavity to understand the condition of your oral cavity and any changes caused due to the missing tooth. The whole process of getting dental implants involves two visits to the dentist. During your first visit is when the dentist places the implant. The dentist would first numb the gums and the teeth using a local anesthetic. The Titanium implant will then be surgically placed. A sufficient healing period would be advised to let the implant fuse properly inside the jawbone.

Once healed, the patient would need to pay another visit to the dentist's office. During this visit, the dentist would place a small post over the implant, called the implant. The replacement tooth, in the form of a dental crown, would be placed over the post.

What are the advantages of dental implants?

Implant restorations have several advantages such as:

  • Improved appearance and aesthetics
  • Look and feel like natural teeth
  • Prevents loss of further teeth
  • Help to restore the facial appearance and structure
  • Boost self-confidence
